Kubricks 2001 Voted Most Realistic Vision Of Future

Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey has been voted the science fiction movie with the most realistic vision of the future.

Sky Movies asked scientists from leading universities including Oxford, St Andrews and King's College London, to consider the visions of the future portrayed in sci-fi films and decide which was the most likely to come true.

Professor Mark Brake from the University of Glamorgan, who was polled in the survey, claimed: "2001 raised science fiction cinema to a new level. The unfolding four-million-year filmic story brilliantly portrays Arthur C. Clarke's disturbing man-machine encounter with HAL; a computer turned murderer.

"This unsettling scenario is not something we would ever want to imagine happening in reality, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that artificial intelligence could turn on its creators."

Ridley Scott's iconic film Blade Runner was also rated highly by the scientists, with experts claiming its genetic-engineered 'replicants' were a very real possibility in the future.

Professor Stephen Hsu, from the University of Oregon, said: "There is every reason to believe that technology will someday permit us to genetically engineer human-like life forms like the 'replicants' in Blade Runner."

David Bowie - Bowie Musical Set For West End

David Bowie fans can dust off their glitter trousers as the Thin White Duke is planning a musical theatre version of his hits, a tabloid reports.

The Sun says a version of the 1976 cult sci-fi film The Man Who Fell To Earth will be hitting the West End after Bowie gave his permission for work to begin on the project.

According to a source quoted by the newspaper, the involvement of director Peter Schaufuss is what swung the decision.

"David has been approached many times with a view of turning his songs into a stage production but he has always said no," the insider said.

"He guards his legacy carefully and didn't want a cheesy show tarnishing it."

That has all changed now, however, meaning classic Bowie hits like Starman, Life on Mars and Ziggy Stardust will be gracing the West End stages at some point in the near future.

The Man Who Fell To Earth will be hoping it does as well as other musicals based on the songs of former pop icons.

Abba's Mamma Mia, Madness' Our House and Queen's We Will Rock You have all been big West End hits.

Polish black metal band Hate was born in the former '90s and exhausted the number one half of the ten bit by bit construction their fan base with a number of demos recorded by various lineups. In 1997, a slightly stable formation, including vocalist/guitarist Adam the First Sinner, guitar player Kaos, bassist Daniel, and drummer Mittloff, cut the group's domesticated debut, Daemon Qui Fecit Terram, which was quickly followed by 1998's Lord Is Avenger. New bassist Cyrian united in metre for 1999's Victims mini-album, and 2000's Cains Way. Their start international release, 2001's Sanctum Dead Trinity, combined tracks from all their previous albums and was issued by World War III records.
